This week, Global Currents host Sarwar Kashmeri speaks with Mr. Briar Alpert, President and CEO of BioTek, a leading supplier of life science tools designed to accelerate the drug discover process, to advance discoveries in genomics and proteomics, and to aid in the advancement of life sciences and clinical research.

Despite the challenging economic environment, BioTek continues to grow at double digit growth rates and now has over 300 employee located in 8 countries.  Alpert says since BioTek is privately held, it has not been hit as hard as competitors who are restricted in some ways by the need for short-term gains, but that the economic challenges of today “will require leadership at a federal level” for investment “in the right areas.”
